EU Settlement Scheme Application Deadline

The 30th June 2021 is the closing date for your employees to apply for the EU Settlement scheme, so we thought we’d give you a friendly reminder to ensure you don’t miss the deadline.

Who needs to apply?
Any EU, EEA or Swiss citizens and their family members who started living in the UK by 31 December 2020 will need to apply. Be aware that the deadlines are different in some situations and further details can be found on the government website.

Who doesn’t need to apply?
People with indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK and people with British and Irish citizenship do not need to apply.

How do they apply?
Applications can be made online using a laptop, tablet or phone and applicants will be asked to provide proof of identity and proof of residence in the UK.

What happens next?
Eligible applicants will either be given Pre-settled status (if they have less than five years continuous residence in the UK) or Settled status. People with Pre-settled status can apply to switch to Settled status once they have lived in the UK for five continuous years.

Current employees will not need to provide evidence of having applied to the EU Settlement Scheme but from 1 July 2021 any new employees will need to provide evidence of their right to work in the UK.

Act now to avoid any unnecessary disruption to your business!
