How to thank your team
Smiling is infectious
Is it time to say thank you to your team?
Amidst the current coronavirus pandemic it’s easy to lose sight of the positives in the world of small business. Not everyone has furloughed all of their staff; some businesses are doing their best to plough through the current situation to create opportunities where initially it seemed there were none.
To make the most of these opportunities, employees have had to get stuck in. Working in different roles, sometimes for longer hours and usually without an ideal office set up (working at the kitchen table, sofa, etc). Though far from ideal, I think we can all agree, it’s been pretty tough all round. And, whilst the reality is that you probably won’t see a lot of voluntary turnover in your teams for the moment, you want to keep your people motivated to keep up the good work. You want them to be excited about creating opportunities - for your business and themselves - so maybe it’s time to say ‘thank you’ for all of their hard work?
A ‘thank you’ doesn’t need to be expensive. One of the most effective ways of encouraging loyalty is to actually just say the words directly to those doing a great job. You’ll be amazed at how many managers take for granted that their teams know they’re doing a great job. Maybe they do, but if you’re able to invest a little in making someone smile, then we’d definitely recommend it.
Here are some not too expensive ideas for you to try:

We appreciate this might not work for all small businesses and many had to make difficult decisions in order to survive, but a small gesture at this time (indeed, any time) will go a long way.
